Review: Rival Darling

Rival Darling Rival Darling by Alexandra Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

another stupid name, but still a fun read. this one was definitely more basic than book 2, and i refuse to believe the male lead actually has a brain, but i still really enjoyed it. i can see why this book comes first, because book two feels like the same story but done better. even so, the series as a whole is really cute and lighthearted, and i love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. i actually look forward to the third book and really hope there is a fourth about the sister, because we don’t get to see enough of her. another good travel read without smut.

Review: Grumpy Darling

Grumpy Darling Grumpy Darling by Alexandra Moody
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

the book has a really stupid name, but it was actually a pretty interesting read. it’s cute and easy to get into. i appreciated that there’s no smut-- just storyline. i accidentally read this one before the first book in the series, but it didn’t spoil anything, so it definitely works as a standalone. i usually hate when books switch back and forth between character perspectives, but it was acceptable here and didn’t ruin the flow. overall, it’s a surprisingly sweet read with more depth than i expected. a great travel read for me.

Review: The Bodyguard

The Bodyguard The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

this one was alright. it started out fun with the idea of a woman bodyguard protecting a famous actor. the book was totally unrealistic, but i really like the idea of women being able to fight off anyone and not be waiting for someone to save her from danger. the romance was fine, but predictable. i liked the main character’s toughness and would have loved to see her in action more. i also liked that the boss instigated drama in the workplace. this book wasn’t bad, it actually surprised me. a decent comfort read, but not super memorable.
also the ex best friend and ex boyfriend suck.
